To forget about the everyday suffering for at least a few moments, soldiers who fought on the Isonzo Front usually sought solace in faith and sacred corners.
The Italian chapel Bes, under Krn was built in the vicinity of the first Italian frontline as a memorial to the fallen Italian soldiers.
The generously adorned façade of the chapel is decorated with an eagle with open wings, which is still the symbol of alpine units in the Italian army. The eastern façade is elevated above roof level and is adorned with stylised grenades and guns. Large storage houses, a hospital, a watchtower, caverns, firing trenches and artillery positions used to be in the vicinity of the chapel.
The military chapel Bes lies on The Alpe Adria Trail and on The Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic hiking routes.

The Bes Chapel is situated between the peaks Pleče (1,299 m) and Planica (1,376 m). It is one hour walk away from the Kuhinja pod Krnom mountain pasture.
