A short well-arranged path through a small forest will take you to the renovated remains, which show what life was like on the first defence line of the Austro-Hungarian army in Bovška kotlina.
You will be able to see many firing and connecting trenches, caverns, bunkers, renovated shacks and a crater on top, which was left behind after the only grenade that hit these positions during the war. The task of the base on the small hill Ravelnik (519 m) was to defend the strategically important road over the Predel mountain pass. The road was incredibly important for supplying soldiers with ammunition, food and medicine.
A part of the Austro-Hungarian defence line that saw fierce fighting during the Isonzo Front is linked by a short circular trail that contains part of the Walk of Peace from the Alps to the Adriatic.
For a unique view of the heritage of the Isonzo Front we recommend seeing the outdoor museum with a uniformed soldier from Društvo 1313 (The 1313 Association), who will serve you tea from cups, which were used by soldiers on the Isonzo Front.
The museum is open all year round and there is no entrance fee.
