Kobarid: history and views

A trip where you take on the Kobarid Historical Trail. The circular trail leads you to the Kozjak Waterfall, across suspension bridges and through key World War I heritage sites.

Complete your visit with a tour of the Italian Charnel House in Kobarid, which also offers exceptional views of the valley.

For a culinary break, we recommend tasting Kobarid štruklji or dishes made from local trout in one of the local inns.

Tolmin: natural attractions

Spring is the perfect time to visit the Tolmin Gorges. They represent the lowest entry point to Triglav National Park. A walk through the gorges of the Tolminka and Zadlaščica rivers is one of the most scenic in the region.

Not far away is the Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca. A unique peace monument from World War I. The wooden church, hidden in the mountains, offers a special experience of silence and respect.

Nearby, you can also discover lesser-known paths such as a walk to the confluence of the Soča and Tolminka rivers or the viewpoint Kozlov Rob with a new interpretation center above Tolmin.

Bovec: waterfalls and fortresses

In Bovec, discover the mighty Boka Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia, and take a walk to the picturesque Virje Waterfall.

A historical touch is added by the Kluže Fortress, one of the most important fortifications in the Bovec area, located above the Koritnica gorge. It dates back to the 19th century when it was rebuilt as part of the Austrian defense system and played an important strategic role during World War I on the Soča Front. Today it is arranged as a cultural monument and a venue for exhibitions and events, offering visitors insight into the rich military history of the area.
